2016 marks the 55th (nearly) consecutive year that the Georgia QSO Party (GQP) has been challenging amateurs all over the world with the best award/plaque program in the US. In 2015, 323 amateurs submitted logs vying for the thirty-nine award plaques that could be earned. Hopefully all 159 Georgia counties will be on the air this year. The GQP is held in a pair of ten-hour sessions on the second full weekend in April; this year that will be April 9-10, 2016.

GARS activities April 9-10, 2016 at Harbins Park

Our goals:

  • * Four stations on air on Saturday and Sunday at Harbins Park at 2995 Luke Edwards Road in Dacula
  • * Give as many members and friends as possible an opportunity to get on the air for a few minutes.
  • * Feed everyone lunch both days.
  • * Have a good time!

We will be using the pavilion. Everyone attending should dress for the weather and bring their own chair. Our operations will be from 12PM-6PM both days, although event operating times are 2PM-12AM Sat & 10AM-8PM Sun. We plan to run 40m Phone, 20m Phone, 20m CW and 15m CW. Gwinnett ARES will run "Deployment Day" at the same location in the morning before the GQP.

This year, GARS will be holding a bake off.
