The Gwinnett Amateur Radio Society is an amateur radio club serving Gwinnett County, Georgia, in the North Metro Atlanta area. We are a Special Service club affiliated with the ARRL. With near 130 members, GARS is an active part of the Amateur Radio community, and plays an important role in Gwinnett County. We invite you to join us at our next meeting to learn more about us.

October 15, GARS Participated in the 48th Annual
Jamboree on the Air (JOTA)

Jamboree on the air for 2005 was success. Members of GARS, ARES and Venture Crew 73 had three HF stations and the ARES trailer operational from the Gwinnett Fire Academy. Scouts from all over the county enjoyed the opportunity to communicate with other scouts around the country and listen to QSO’s with amateurs around the world.

Scouts and amateur radio have had a long relationship. Both scouts and amateur radio operators learn while having fun and both have requirements for public service.

Some of the youth we served at JOTA will be GARS and ARES members in the future. If you know of any youth between the ages of 14 and 21 be sure to bring them to the next meeting of Crew 73.

Several of us worked for the Dacula Centennial Parade.

Field Day was June 25 & 26.  GARS set up at Rhodes-Jordan Park.

The May 10 Meeting was on Grounding Systems for your radio station.

Carter Bennett did a great job explaining and demonstrating impedance and paths of least resistance.
